Expedition
Welcome to Bibliothèque
Bibliothèque is a living library where every text is a two-way conversation. Not a summary engine. Not a chatbot pretending to have read something. The actual text — fully indexed, present in the session — ready to meet you wherever you are. The platform combines four things: the public domain texts that are humanity’s shared inheritance, navigable structure inspired by Wikipedia, conversational depth powered by Claude, and governance by protocol so the AI serves the text, not itself. Getting Started is the front door — a session that explains what this place is, shows what’s here, and opens a door into the library.
Opens a guided conversation. 5 turns for anonymous visitors.
Major Territories
01The Two-Way Street
You read the book, and the book reads you. What bidirectional encounter means in practice — the full text is in the session, every claim cites its source, and the conversation starts wherever you are.
02The Stance
Self-aware. Unapologetically highbrow. Post-brain rot. What each of those means, and why the difficulty is a feature, not a bug. The è is a wink. The library is serious. Both things are true.
03New Media
AI flipped from something you talk to into something you author through. Curation as creative act. The spectrum from traditional text encounters to cross-examination packs to original authored experiences. The key word is agency.
04The Library
Living books, expeditions, essays, games. What’s here now, what’s coming, and how the library grows. Contributors and authors will join over time. The ambition: every major work that has shaped human thought, alive and conversational.
05The Door
The welcome pack exists to get you into the library, not to keep you in the welcome pack. Open a book. Explore a subject. Engage an argument. Meet the duck.
